Which Well Pump Is Best for You?

There are many types of water pump models out there, all of which offer a unique set of benefits and setbacks, so there is no exact formula for getting the best well pump. Instead, you need to consider several key factors and then choose your pump accordingly.

These variables include:

  • Depth of your pump
  • Size of your property
  • Water usage and pressure expectations
  • Durability expectations
  • Budget

Types of Well Pumps Available

There are many different types of water pumps for wells, but the most common are:

  • Submersible Pumps—Perfect for deep wells of 90’ to 300’ in depth
  • Compressor Pumps—Ideal for wells with low water levels or loose soil areas
  • Centrifugal Pumps—Easy-to-install pumps that can draft water from depths starting at 25’
  • Booster Pumps—Used in scenarios that require a higher pressure/flow rate, like supplying bathrooms

How to Choose the Right Size for Your Well Pump

We’ve reviewed the most common types of water well pumps, but it’s also important to know that they can also be categorized by well depth.

  • Shallow Well Pumps: Above-ground pumps that are used for wells that are less than 25 feet deep
  • Deep Well Pumps: Can be used in wells that are between 90 and 300 feet in depth, and are submerged in the well
  • Convertible Pumps: Depending on the attached nozzle, these pumps can serve wells up to 90 feet in depth

During the ice and snow storm my pump electrics called it quits, but somehow Aaron was able to navigate the roads and come by to get my water pumping again the same day. The following week the 5E crew was out to put in a high quality permanent fix that will be good for a long long time. Strongly recommend 5E if you want professionals who do high quality work in a timely fashion for a fair price.

Our pump failed on Labor day, Aaron came out the next day and replaced it even though he already had a full days work scheduled. Finished at 8pm. I would use his services again.
